Event
The Jazz Scene
The postwar period was a time of change in jazz. In 1947, when Wally's first opened, all styles of jazz could be heard in the clubs near the intersection of Mass and Columbus Avenues. The area was once home to several clubs, including Wally's Paradise, the Savoy Cafe, Eddie's Musical Lounge, the Hi-Hat, and the Pioneer Club. It was also home to the union hall of Local 535, Boston Musicians' Association. Join the owners of Wallys and Richard Vacca, local jazz historian and editor at Jazz Boston, for a private event that weaves together what was happening in jazz and how that played out on the Boston scene in the late 1940s and 1950s. Dinner from Upper Crust is included. Participants must be 21+ with proper ID.
