Walter Salas-Humara (of the Silos)

Walter Sales-Humara was conceived in Havana, born in New York City and raised in Southern Florida. His rock band, The Silos, was voted Best New Americana Band in the Rolling Stone Critic's Poll of 1987 and over the years have recorded 12 albums, appeared on Late Night with David Letterman, and put in thousands of day on the road. Salas-Humara has also recorded 2 solo albums and is currently working on a third entitled "Curve and Shake". According to the New York Times, "His austere style inflects the astringent twang of The Velvet Underground with the drone of R.E.M. and adds countryish echoes that recall Gram Parsons." Salas-Humara is also an accomplished painter and his works are featured in the Universal Pictures release Get Him To The Greek starring Jonah Hill and Russell Brand.
