LULA WASHINGTON DANCE THEATRE 2023 KWANZAA CELEBRATION
For more than four decades the Lula Washington Dance Theatre has electrified and entranced audiences with Lula Washingtons authentic, meaningful and inspiring choreographic works. Her dancers continue to be admired for their artistic integrity, and for having intensely high technical and performance skills. LWDT has toured major theaters and opera houses through-out the United States and abroad. Co-Founders Erwin and Lula Washington are named Los Angeles Treasures and as a Performing Arts Anchor Organization for the work of LWDT. The LWDT Kwanzaa Celebrations are a South Los Angeles Tradition. Honoring our African roots and our American heritage through the art of Dance, Jazz music, and traditional dance and drumming. The evening will ignite our launch into the new year with celebrated and new works by Lula Washington and Tamica Washington-Miller before they hit the road; the works speak to Black Innovation, Black Genius and Black Contributions to the world, with original music by Marcus L. Miller. Each performance will feature Ms. Lula's powerhouse, Harambe Suite which features Lula Washington Dance Theatres professional touring company. LWDT Students and Community Members.
