Join us every first Thursday of the month for our Thirst Fursday Beer School, where we delve deep into a beer category or topic, invite an expert to hang out with us, and learn a lot while we drink a bit.

Barrel aged beers utilize used barrels used previously for wine, bourbon, rum or other spirits. Sometimes they add oaky, vanilla notes to the beer, sometimes they add boozy, whisky based compounds, and sometimes they add wild yeast and souring bacteria, taking the beer in a whole new direction.
Sour/Wild is a category encompassing a myriad of non-traditional sour ales which are typically brewed with an ale yeast and then inoculated with souring bacteria and yeasts -- typically Lactobacillus, often Brettanomyces and Pediococcus, and sometimes Acetobacter.
Jeff from Goose Island will join us to talk about barrel aged beers, talk about what foods pair well with barrel aged beer & sours, and we'll taste through the following Goose Island beers: Lolita Halia Gillian Juliet Bourbon County Stout 2013 Bourbon County Barleywine 2013 and maybe a few more. Cost includes heavy appetizers & 6x 4oz beer samples.
