Do I Hear A Waltz?, In Concert
TICKET INFORMATION
We encourage patrons of APPLAUSE! to buy early to save money, and to avoid the disapointment of our (often) sold out shows. There are no refunds, or exchanges. All tickets are general admission.

ABOUT THE MUSICAL
Music by RICHARD RODGERS.
Lyrics by STEPHEN SONDHEIM.
Book by ARTHUR LAURENTS
Based on the play "The Time of the Cuckoo" by ARTHUR LAURENTS

This musical adaptation of The Time of the Cuckoo, a bittersweet romance set in Venice, was a unique collaboration of three giants of the musical theatre: Richard Rodgers, Arthur Laurents and Stephen Sondheim. Past in concert musicals APPAUSE! has presented by two of these giants include: Boys From Syracuse, Babes In Arms, Flower Drum Song (music by Richard Rodgers), Merrily We Roll Along, Saturday Night, The Frogs, Follies, Passion, Sunday in the Park With George, and Anyone Can Whistle (music by Stephen Sondheim). APPLAUSE! may just be the the only company in the Lower Mainland to present seven Sondheim musicals.

SYNOPSIS
Leona, an unmarried secretary of a certain age, goes on a vacation to Venice where, under the spell of that enchanted city, she falls in love. The gentleman is an attractive, middle-aged shopkeeper, whose attentions give flight to her deepest dreams of romance. Too soon, however, he openly informs her that he is a contented family man, and Leona's hopes are dashed. She can, for a short time, harness romance, yet realizes that such a relationship would have nowhere to go. Still, might it be better than never having loved at all? This timeless story, which was also the basis of the movie Summertime starring Katharine Hepburn, remains a bittersweet testament to the complexities of the heart.

WHAT IS A MUSICAL IN CONCERT?
A musical in concert is not a "full production". You will see the actors holding their scripts, because our concerts have a significantly shorter rehearsal period, and there isnt time for them to learn everything. Our concerts are meant to whet your appetite for a show you might not be familiar with. We program musicals that are rare, and forgotten but by popular composers. We rehearse for about 30 hours so what you will see is a fun presentation of the original story and score, with all its imperfections.

There are no refunds, or exchanges.
