You and your friends are dying laughing about an idea for a video sketch, but you have no clue how or where to start. In this workshop youll learn from working comedians how to use your phone to make a video sketch you can show off on social media, feature in your live comedy shows, submit to festivals, and email to your mom.
-Write your script to make filming easy
-Make a shot list and plan your shoot whether you have a 10 minutes or 3 days
-How to look and sound good with any budget
-How to shoot to make your life easier when youre editing
-Decide where to shoot your sketch
-How to use a green screen for free or cheap
-How to edit your footage the easy way with what you already have and without spending 6 hours watching Youtube tutorials
-Optional next steps to up your game (software, lighting and sound tools, locations)
Can I really shoot a high quality sketch with my phone? YES. Lady Gaga did it for her Stupid Love music video and so can you!
My phone is old and kinda shitty, can I still do it? Yeah, Sarah uses an iPhone SE from 2020.
I have an Android, will you only talk about iPhones? No, Ezra uses an Android and we love him.
Public Breakup performs sketch comedy to sold out audiences throughout Los Angeles. Most recently seen at the Portland Maine Comedy Festival and Upright Citizens Brigade, Public Breakup writes and performs a bi-monthly comedy show at the Broadwater Black Box in Hollywood. Though they are known for their sweetly misguided and sometimes irreverent characters, committed and choreographed musical numbers, and blend of conceptual and grounded sketches, they are most proud of being best friends with each other. Members of Public Breakup have had their video sketches and other filmed work shown at Upright Citizens Brigade, the NoHo Cinefest, Big Apple Film Festival, Miami Web Fest, and WhoHaHa.
