In Between the Lines
In Between the Lines Written and Performed by ROOTS Theater Ensemble at Balboa High School Developed with Ephraim Stempler, Paul S. Flores, and Reggie Daniels Directed by Ephraim Stempler
Racial profiling. Self-stereotyping. Addiction. Feelings of powerlessness. Poverty. Resentment. Getting caught up in "The Game." Keeping up appearances. Absent fathers. Vicious cycles. What are the real culprits behind bars?
In Between the Lines, the latest original play from the Community Works ROOTS Theater Ensemble, examines this question through the fictional narrative of "Ricky" and the people he has impacted with one bad decision. Based on the courageous voices of youth impacted by incarceration from Balboa High School.
