WTS Puget Sound April 24th Lunch Program - Amy Scarton Reception
The WTS Puget Sound Chapter invites you to join us for a welcoming reception for Amy Scarton, the new WSDOT Assistant Secretary of Community and Economic Development. Amy oversees the majority of WSDOT's modal divisions, including Public Transportation, Freight, Aviation, Rail, Local Programs, and Multimodal Planning. WSDOT is refocusing on the importance of community engagement, and as Assistant Secretary, Amy is working to increase travel choices for all citizens. She is also working with state and local partners to implement new policies on least-cost planning, transit-oriented development, clean transportation, and regional decision making.
Amy has recently moved to the northwest from Washington D.C. where she was with the U.S. Department of Transportation as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy working for Secretary Ray LaHood on TIGER grants and other federal programs. Prior to USDOT, Amy was with the U.S. House of Representatives as Majority Counsel for the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit, where she focused on federal transportation reauthorizations. She has also served as a Chief of Staff at the U.S. Surface Transportation Board and as a staffer for Congressman Earl Blumenauer.
At the event, you'll get to know more about the new WSDOT executive team member, have an opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with Amy Scarton, and network with other transportation professionals over an informal lunch.
