The Fringe Community Hub - Artists' Focus Group facilitated by EPAD
In the UK Government's Spring 2023 budget, £7m of Capital investment was earmarked for Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society (EFFS). These funds will support EFFS in achieving its long-held goals for a community-centred space and a home for their year-round services to artists, audiences and community.
Edinburgh Performing Arts Development (EPAD) has been invited by EFFS to produce a report analysing the existing and potential service provision for artists in Edinburgh, to ensure that the new space being developed by EFFS in Edinburghs Old Town complements and provides additionality to the city's cultural offer. The current expectation is that the new Fringe Community Hub would offer a year-round Artists Support programme which could include co-working desk space, meeting rooms, rehearsal space, a recording studio and access to the Fringe's Artist Services team. There are no plans to create a performance space within the building. There are no plans for a performance space.
We invite you to join us to discuss the needs of Edinburgh's artist community and to consider the gaps and opportunities that a new Fringe Community Hub might support.
We appreciate the time and thought involved in supporting this research and each participant will receive a fee of £30.
Please note, we are working to a very tight deadline to complete this work, and the event may be held online if we are unable to find a space in which to hold an in-person meeting.
Due to the nature of our funding and the focus of this work, spaces are only available for professionals working in the performing arts based in Edinburgh.
