Iona Fyfe at Edinburgh FC / EFC
Aberdeenshire folk singer, Iona Fyfe, is now one of Scotland's finest singers having risen very rapidly through the ranks since just before Covid. She is deeply rooted in the singing traditions of the North East of Scotland and, in 2021, became the first singer to win the coveted title of Musician of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards. Iona is a fierce advocate for the official recognition of the Scots Language, leading a successful campaign to pressure Spotify into recognising Scots and add it to its list of languages. Honoured at the Scots Language Awards with the title of Speaker of the Year in 2021, Iona performs mainly folk songs with occasional digressions into interpretations of pop songs in the Scots language. No matter what though, she remains true to her roots. Iona has featured in several publications including The Sunday Post, The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Times. She won the title of Scots Singer of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards in 2018 and was described as, "one of the best Scotland has to offer". (Global-Music.de). Most recently in 2023 she toured in the USA for the first time - and, no doubt, not for the last time.

Accessibility
UCC has relatively easy access for wheelchair users. There's a portable ramp to enable the wheelchair to get past 3-4 steps from the street to the main door. Once inside everything is on the same level (ground floor) - performance room, bar and disabled-friendly toilets.
