50th anniversary supper at Edinburgh FC / EFC
Edinburgh FC's first gig was on Wed 3 October 1973. On Wed 4 Oct 2023 we celebrate that.
Edinburgh FC arose from the demise of The Buffs FC which met on Monday evenings in the RAOB club in Albany Street. The demise came about because the law said you couldn't run a club in another club's premises. The police accordingly 'busted' the Buffs one Monday in 1972 when a young Mike Whellans was the guest act. Heads were put together and Sandy Bell's saw dicussions ensuing until it was decided that the Buffs just had to be replaced. Edinburgh FC had taken the first step towards becoming a reality. The rest, as the saying goes, is history.
Tonight we're having a sit-down anniversary supper (soup and a main course) which the ladies of the Ukrainian Community Centre will prepare for us.
Our special guest performer tonight is Robin Laing who hasn't been at the club for several years. Robin is Scotlands Whisky Bard and is of course also established as a very productive and creative songwriter of many subjects, including his award-winning The Forth Bridge Song, and has recorded several whisky-themed albums for Greentrax Recordings

Accessibility
UCC has relatively easy access for wheelchair users. There's a portable ramp to enable the wheelchair to get past 3-4 steps from the street to the main door. Once inside everything is on the same level (ground floor) - performance room, bar and disabled-friendly toilets.
