Tracing Your Home's Roots
SOHO is commemorating American Archives Month with a free ZOOM panel discussion with expert local archivists to help historic homeowners learn various ways they can use San Diego archives when researching their home or site.
Whether you want to deepen your own appreciation of your property's history or are preparing for historic designation, our panel will provide valuable insights on how to best use their archives.
Five San Diego organizations and agencies with publicly accessible historic records and holdings will be on hand for this event, moderated by historian and planner James Newland. As a past president of the La Mesa History Center, Jim will also share insights about that organizations archives.
Along with Jim, our panelists include Vickie Stone, M.A., Curator of Collections at the Coronado Historical Association; Dana Hicks, Ph.D., representing the La Jolla Historical Society; and a trio from the San Diego County Archives: Jeannette Notarangelo, Kiera Sullivan, and Jeffrey Delarosa. Each expert will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the audience, ensuring a comprehensive guide of sorts to which San Diego archives can serve you best.
The discussion will run 90 minutes with 30 additional minutes for Q&A, and will be recorded to create a valuable resource for anyone interested in exploring the rich history of our old homes and neighborhoods.
