REVOLVE 11: Assemblage
Arts collective Imaginese Productions, is partnering with the Last Bookstore for a night of soulful underground music. The event will feature the work of two local artists Dominique Toney, and Tien.
Tien, http://www.tienmusic.net/ an USC graduate, is back from his most recent tour including performances at SXSW. Buzzband LA says "there's a healthy dose of sleek, old-school funk-soul in the music of Tien Nguyen". Tien's music has the energy and fun of early 90's R&B band matched with insightful, provoking lyrics.
Dominique http://www.dominiquetoney.com/ is a multitalented L.A. native, that blends the jazziness and class of a bygone era, with soulful R&B. This renaissance woman has worked in front of and behind the camera. Revolve 11 will see her with her first love, the piano, which she has sat behind since she was 7 years old.
The event is part fresh, new music from TIEN & Dominique and part Imaginese collaboration bringing short comedic pieces written by Juan Amador and Steven Vivell, a glorious stand-up set, and powerfully humorous spoken word. Mixing and jamming with multiple disciplines is Imaginese's signature, providing a fresh look at the possibilities and definitions of the arts.
Imaginese Productions is a burgeoning film and theatre company producing the gamut of artistic mediums that includes visual art, dance, & spoken word. Imaginese is passionate about serving the community and supporting art and education, therefore, teaming with The Last Bookstore (which Flavorwire crowned one of the 20 most beautiful bookstores in the world) was a clear choice. Together they are offering the public this stunning event of music, theatre, & comedy as a way to ban together and remember our fanciful dreams.
The price of admission is a used book, in good condition; something that you would choose for a friend and pass along. Otherwise, a $5 toward the Imaginese Spark Partnership is acceptable for entry. The Spark program is a national mentorship program that has partnered with Imaginese to provide artistic mentorship for children within the inner city school systems of Los Angeles, where their art programs has been all but cut. It is Imaginese's goal and hope to fill in the blanks of their arts education, providing the same life-changing outlets that they used to enter the artistic field.
Imaginese is a non-profit Production Cooperative dedicated to creating diverse, & socially - conscious content through innovative theatre, film, and new media.
