KEEPER OF THE BEAT is a feature-length documentary in which Barbara Borden, an acclaimed 67-year-old drummer, composer, teacher and peacemaker, tells her inspiring story in eloquent words and toe-tapping music. Weaving a variety of performance and archival footage with interviews with a range of noted artists and thinkers, students, family and friends who know her and the social history of her times, KEEPER OF THE BEAT showcases the unfolding of Barbara's identity as a percussionist, teacher, world musician and practitioner of 'drumbeat diplomacy.' The film is produced and directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, David L. Brown.
