A young Mozart set the ancient Marian hymn Regina Coeli to three very delightful settings. The particularly sunny K.276 has a thrice-repeated "Alleluia" that some feel is reminiscent of Händel
Also on the program is an Octavo premiere of Karl Jenkins' Stabat Mater. This is a 2008 composition by the Welsh composer and, like some of his other works, includes both traditional Western music as well as ethnic vocals, this time focusing on the Middle East.
We will be accompanied by the Octavo Chamber Orchestra and guest soloists
Vedrana Kalas Bubregovic, Soprano Kara Cornell, Mezzo Soprano Tim Reno, Tenor Richard Mazzaferro, Bass
Come join us for our first Saturday evening performance in many years!
