Jazz In The Kitchen, with Warren Vache
Please join us for the twelfth, very special, Jazz In The Kitchen!
To celebrate our first full year of Jazz In The Kitchen, on Monday April 14th and Wednesday April 16th we are featuring the Mark Eisenman Trio with a very special guest: jazz cornetist Warren Vache.
The members of the trio - Mark Eisenman (p) Steve Wallace (b) and John Sumner (d) - have been together since 1987 and the musical communication among them is like telepathy. In addition to making great music, throughout the evening they also share with our JITK guests a wealth of knowledge and experience in stories and jokes. The music is presented acoustically - no microphones - so what you hear is a "pure" and intimate sound. When it's not in use as a place for concerts or cooking, the kitchen doubles as a recording studio and it houses one of the best pianos in the city. Mark knows this particular Steinway Grand well and he really makes it sing.
Our guest - cornetist Warren Vache - will be flying in from New Jersey where he makes his home. Warren has made a name for himself around the world as a concert and recording artist working with musicians like Benny Goodman, Dick Hyman, Hank Jones and Rosemary Clooney. He is a sublime and seasoned jazz musician in the "New York style", and a dear friend not only to Patti and John but to the members of the trio who recorded in the kitchen with him a year and a half ago.
Please note that for the April dates only, in order to help defray additional costs our regular seat price of $30 has been increased to $35.
Also, please note that Warren has a large and loyal following in Toronto, and there are only 30 tickets available for each night. Once the April dates are announced, tickets will sell out quickly and John has promised Patti that he won't oversell the room! If you're thinking about being here, don't wait too long to buy your tickets.
Here's the room: The Kitchen.
Guests are invited to bring along something to drink. We will provide glasses. All proceeds from the door go to the musicians. Admission is limited to thirty people, and tickets must be purchased in advance.
We're in the beaches area of Toronto. Ample free street parking. A short walk up from the Queen East #501 Maclean Ave stop, or a quick #64 bus south from Main Stn to Williamson Road.
The door opens at 7:00 pm, and the music starts at 7:30. Please be on time. We are sure you will enjoy the twelfth Jazz In The Kitchen event!
