"On your mark, get set, go!"
Fan favorite Nickelodeon game show Double Dare is fondly remembered for its messy physical challenges, garish sets and props, and the witty rapport between host Marc Summers and announcer Harvey. Filmed at Philadelphia's WHYY studios for the majority of its run, DD debuted on Nickelodeon in the fall on 1986 and went on to air for seven seasons, totaling 525 episodes. The show thrived in syndication and spawned an array of merchandise, from lunchboxes to a Nintendo game, eventually ongoing slight format changes that included Super Sloppy Double Dare and Family Double Dare. A staple of '80s-era children's programming and a daydream come true for its thousands of young viewers turned contestants.
Join Video Pirates, guest host Chris Cummins, and original Double Dare announcer John "Harvey" as they guide you through six years' worth of a game show revolution. Carefully curated clips from the show's entire run will be presented from the best available sources; highlights include a face off between Weird Al and Lou Ferrigno, a special Miami Vice themed episode, and clips from the home video release How to Throw a Double Dare Party. Following the screening, audience members will have the opportunity to compete in physical challenges complete with play-by-play by Harvey and vintage DD prizes!
