The Alex Sjobeck Quartet - Wayne Shorter Tribute Show

The Alex Sjobeck Quartet pays homage to the jazz giant Wayne Shorter (August 25, 1933 March 2, 2023)

Wayne Shorters hard-hitting, high-energy, forward-pushing playing and compositions took the music scene by storm in the 1960s. His highly successful career spanned many decades until his death in March of 2023. He won numerous GRAMMY® awards throughout his career and many of his pieces are now considered jazz standards. Ben Ratliff of the New York Times described him as "probably jazz's greatest living small-group composer and a contender for greatest living improviser".

The Alex Sjobeck Quartet welcomes vocal powerhouse Sam Tru for a journey through different decades of jazz from the classics to fresh, modern works.

Idaho-raised and Pacific Northwest-based singer-songwriter Sam Tru has a compelling style all her own. Blending sounds, breaking rules, crossing genres, and drawing on influences in jazz, soul, Pop, and R&B, her incredible vocal talents have been showcased throughout the West headlining festivals as well as opening for Artists such as the Legendary Ms. Gladys Knight and Amy Vachal. Sam Trus debut album Cycle' reached #1 on Amazons Top 100 New Releases, was featured in Downbeat Magazine, and was played on over 200 radio stations across the globe. The impact of the release culminated as Cycle made the Nominating Ballot for the 2021 GRAMMY® Awards in multiple categories including Album of the Year, Best New Artist, and Song of the Year.
