CFF: THE HEART OF BRUNO WIZARD
Video Pirates presents Cinedelphia Film Festival April 10-27, 2014
Sunday, April 20, 9:30 PM THE HEART OF BRUNO WIZARD (2013, 82 minutes, Dir. Elisabeth Rasmussen) Philadelphia Premiere! $10, no refunds or exchanges.
Bruno Wizard is a London punk musician who became an underground legend for his original performances and "mystery man" status in the mid '70s. He was a regular performer at the Roxy club as the frontman of The Rejects, later The Homosexuals, performing alongside the likes of The Jam, The Clash, Generation X, and Wire. During this time Bruno was part of the "Blitz kids" scene, squatting with the well-known Warren Street mafia. His loathing of the establishment and conventional music industry made him reject record company contracts and follow his own heart and principles at any cost. What follows is the amazing true story of Bruno's rollercoaster journey, with blasts from the past and a future full of surprising twists and turns.
Featuring interviews with punk luminaries including filmmaker Don Letts and Warren Street mafia alumni Stephen Jones and Marilyn, Bruno Wizard morphs from high energy archival material to modern day footage of an artist struggling to stay true to his ideals in the face of sickness and poverty. A moving portrait of a little-known punk.
