TPaRbor Clean-Up Day
The Mission Reach Ecosystem Restoration and Recreation Project is restoring an eight-mile stretch of the San Antonio River into a quality natural riparian woodland ecosystem. As a part of this project, the San Antonio River Authority has given Texas Public Radio the opportunity to adopt a 3.4-acre stretch of natural area on the southeast corner of the Theo Avenue bridge, which we are calling the TPaRbor.
TPR is calling for volunteers on Saturday March 29, from 9 a.m. to noon, to assist in the clean-up of the area. Work includes removing non-native and invasive plants. The work day will result in expanded and improved habitat conditions and connections to the San Antonio River ecosystem.
The fruit of our labor will be on full display this fall.
Because of space limitations, we must limit this volunteer workday to individuals and families -- no groups or troops, please. You must be 10 years old or older to participate.
Special thanks to Whole Foods Market at the Quarry, Culligan of San Antonio and the San Antonio River Foundation.
