The Experimental Theatre Project presents "Dust of Providence"
From the playwright who brought you brought you the controversial play about an inter-generational relationship between a woman and a girl in "Woman/Girl," and the "caustic satire" that "raise[d] your hackles" in the 2005 production of "Hook the Holy Hollow":
In "Dust of Providence," it is the year 1706 in Salem, Massachusetts, and 26-year-old Ann Putnam heads a household of younger siblings, in the wake of their parents' deaths under suspicious circumstances. She must balance her siblings' desires to join the Salem church against pressures from fellow witch-trials accuser Elizabeth Hubbard -- and her own internal fears -- to suppress all memory of her actions in 1692. Into this mix comes a new minister, Reverend Green, and his wife, who struggle to encourage Salem's inhabitants toward reconciliation.
"Dust of Providence" is directed by Steve Cooper, and features the design talents of Dave Baldwin, Chryste Call, Katie Lawrence, Michael Mowery, and Michael White, as well as Tim Crist as Stage Manager and Amy Hartwell as House Manager, and poster design and photography by Ken Holmes. The cast includes Elisabeth Eden as Ann Putnam, Jr., Benjamin Elterman as Thomas Putnam, Xanadu Bruggers as Betty Putnam, Samantha Chapman as Liza Putnam, Eduard Zanidache as Ebenezer Putnam, Trish Loyd as Elizabeth Hubbard, Lee Morris as Reverend Green, Yvette Zaepfel as Mrs. Green, Kris Keppeler as Sarah Nurse Bowden, and Adrienne Easton as Mary Bowden. Please join us for this exploration of leadership and forgiveness.
The Experimental Theatre Project of White Cat Productions aims to create theatre and performance that pushes experimental boundaries of both playwriting and production. The Experimental Theatre Project seeks to engage in multi-disciplinary experimentation and innovation, as well as artistic integrity and excellence, in all of its performance endeavors. ETP is particularly interested in the relevance of performance to social and cultural concerns, and strives to explore these issues in theatrical form as well as in content.
