Short Stories Live: A Tribute to John Updike
John Updike found much of his literary inspiration in lifes everyday, middle-class dramas, but in the literary world, Updike, who died in January, is royalty. Updike is most famous for his award-winning Rabbit series, but he also wrote poetry, short stories, and criticism. In this session of Short Stories Live, directed by A Contemporary Theatre artistic director Kurt Beattie, ACT actors will read selections from Updikes Trust Me (read by Kimberly King and Beattie) and A&P (read by Jonah von Spreecken and Emily Cedergreen), along with The Light of the World (read by von Spreecken, Cedergreen, and King) by Ernest Hemingway, an oft-cited influence on Updikes work. Presented by Town Hall, with A Contemporary Theatre.
