CRPDX presents The City of Tomorrow (with Space Weather Listening Booth)
The only wind quintet to win a gold medal at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in over ten years, the City of Tomorrow is a leading international ensemble dedicated to the performance and creation of new music for winds. A traveling quintet, COT has performed across the U.S. and Canada, making their New York debut in April 2013 at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music. Other appearances during the 2012-13 season included Old First Concerts in San Francisco, New Music Edmonton in Alberta, the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Series in Chicago, and a collaboration with the Portland Cello Project on Radiohead's album OK Computer in Portland, Oregon. http://www.thecityoftomorrow.org
Space Weather Listening Booth is an immersive acoustic and electronic performance piece based on the aurora borealis, by Seattle composers Nat Evans and John Teske. Listeners hear the collision of the different space weather events that cause the aurora borealis, realized through an electronic track in surround sound and live performers http://johnteskemusic.com/compositions/swlb.html
Classical Revolution PDX is a grassroots nonprofit organization in Portland, Oregon dedicated to making chamber music more accessible. http://classicalrevolutionpdx.org
