Songwriter Circle with special guest Beth Wood
Songwriter Circle: Cal Scott and Richard Moore with special guest Beth Wood
Monday, April 7, 7:00pm O'Connor's Vault 7850 S.W. Capitol Hwy
Cal Scott and Richard Moore welcome award-winning singer-songwriter Beth Wood to their bi-monthly circle at O'Connor's Vault in Multnomah Village, Monday, April 7 at 7:00pm.
Beth stands out among the many singer-songwriters regularly appearing at the Sisters Folk Festival as a riveting presence on stage, whether solo or collaborating with her musical peers. She's won a string of festival songwriting competitions, including the prestigious Kerrville, Texas contest in 2005. Beth's original songs sparkle, and yet she can take a classic like Etta James' "At Last" and make it her own. Originally from Lubbock, Texas, but settled into Eugene, Beth doesn't spend much time in Oregon. Touring takes her coast-to-coast several times a year. Here are a couple of quotes from around the country: "A superb singer/songwriter whose versatility discourages labeling." Fort Worth Star-Telegram "Beth Wood is a musical triple-threat a thoughtful songwriter and talented multi-instrumentalist with a supple, soulful voice." Washington Post Beth, originally from Lubbock, Texas, but settled into Eugene, doesn't spend much time in Oregon. http://www.bethwoodmusic.com/
The usual suspects bookending Beth will be Cal Scott, jack-of-many-genres who writes and performs with The Trail Band and Kevin Burke, and the word-witty and tune-wise Richard Moore, likely to share a few more scenes from "Rain," his musical-in-the-works about Portland.
Discount advance tickets are $12 each from http://brownpapertickets.com or $15 at the door. More information from Matt Miner at 503-484-8196 or mattminermusic@gmail.com.
