ORIGINS - Musical Migrations of Balkan Song and Dance
Seattle Peace Chorus presents Origins: Musical Migrations of Balkan Song and Dance with Guest Artists: Radosk Folk Ensemble, Dunava Balkan Women's Chorus, Klapa Doo Wapella, Peter Lippman, Dromeno:Ruth and Christos Govetas family band.
Join us as the Seattle Peace Chorus and guests performers create a cantata of Balkan music and dance, illuminating the rich history of diverse cultures and their current striving for peace and social justice. The evening will feature beautiful choral singing of traditional music from Croation, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Bosnia and beyond, accompanied by an impressive array of Balkan ensembles. Singing from Rachmaninoff's famous Vestpers will evoke Slavic roots. A highlight willb e the tale of the Sarajevo Haggadah, the illuminated Jewish manuscript containing the text of the Passover Seder, told through word and song,incorporating Jewish shongs in Hebrew and Ladino.
