Tour of the Point San Luis Lighthouse
What was life like for a lighthouse keeper and family in the 1890's? You'll find out when you join us on a tour of the Point San Luis Lighthouse. Our adventure begins when we board a charming old world trolley and take the winding road to the Lighthouse. At each curve another scene will greet us - Avila Bay, the yacht harbor, Harford Pier, and the wide expanse of the Pacific Ocean.
At the Light Station we will learn the secrets of the grounds, the restored Victorian-style home and other buildings, the work of the many volunteers who are responsible for the wonderful restoration, and the history of this special place during this docent-led tour. You won't believe the quality of the work done!
You will also learn about the critical role that federal lighthouses played to help ships navigate our dangerous coast in a pre-radio and satellite age.
After the tour, it's time for lunch. We encourage you to bring your own water and a sack lunch which you may enjoy while experiencing the beautiful coastal vistas.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE LAST DAY TO PURCHASE A TICKET FOR THIS EVENT IS MAY 7
