Exodus To Jazz: Tom Harrell's - "Colors of a Dream" - GREAT SEATS ARE STILL AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR BEGINNING 7PM!
Trumpeter and flugelhornist Tom Harrell returns to Rochester with "Colors of a Dream", a piano-less sextet ensemble with two bassists and two saxophonists. Jaleel Shaw on alto saxophone joins Harrell's regular tenor saxophonist Wayne Escoffrey.
Joining Ugonna Okegwo, Harrell's bassist for 14 years, is bassist/vocalist Esperanza Spalding who contributes vocals on some of Harrell's original tunes. Quoting Esperanza Spalding (from an email to Harrell referring to their Colors Of A Dream date at the Vanguard): "It was one of the richest experiences of my life." Referring to Harrell, she added, "The breadth and variation in his playing, arranging and writing is mesmerizing, totally inspiring and uplifting to say the least !"
Johnathan Blake on drums and Tom Harrell on trumpet and flugelhorn complete this stellar group.
