Gender in Media Research
For a third year, WOW is partnering with the Los Angeles Women's International Film Festival to present the Filmmaker Symposium as part of the festival. This year's symposium will be held Saturday, March 15 from 9:00am- 6:30pm at Woodbury University. The symposium will feature panel discussions with current filmmakers and industry leaders on key topics in filmmaking today.
Gender in Media Research Panel
WOW is proud to present Madeline Di Nonno, CEO of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media (GDI), whose mission is to dramatically improve gender inequality in media via cutting-edge research, training, strategic guidance and advocacy programs. The Institute is the only research-based organization working within the media and entertainment industry to engage, educate and influence the need for gender balance, reduce stereotyping and create a wide variety of female characters for entertainment targeting children. Madeline Di Nonno will present key findings from the Institute's latest research study, which examines the career occupations of female characters in family films, primetime and children's television programming.
