Lawson & Disorder
Lawson and Disorder combines some of the area's most highly accomplished musicians for distinctive renditions of wonderful songs born in all corners of the American music landscape. Larry Lawson on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Joe DeCristopher on lead guitar and harmonies, and Carl Kirby on upright bass and harmonies combine their considerable talents with a very clear purpose: delivering excellent songs that plumb the rich depths of human experience. Their repertoire is built around Larry's exquisitely crafted original songs, which are alternately poignant, whimsical, or just plain fun. To their absolute delight, the trio will be joined for their Elias debut by drummer nonpareil Steve Mitchell, whose inexhaustible talent and good humor are admired and treasured from coast to coast.
Larry fronts Lawson and Disorder with his deliciously rich and vibrant baritone and his distinctive rhythm guitar work. Guitar virtuoso Joe DeCristopher, the polished veteran of musical configurations too numerous to mention, plays with lyrical grace and incredible versatility, bringing the perfect musical colors to the full range of Lawson and Disorder's tunes, from to folk to jazz to country roots. Carl Kirby, a superbly talented multi-instrumentalist who handles many musical genres and instruments with ease, uses his light and nimble touch on the upright bass to guide Lawson and Disorder perfectly on their journey through a variety of American musical styles. Drummer Steve Mitchell brings the deft and subtle rhythmic grooves that perfectly augment each and every song.
Together, Lawson and Disorder offers a delightful, free-wheeling tour of musical styles and human emotions. Just as you think you have them figured out, they head off in an entirely different and unexpected direction, and each new road is just as entertaining as the one before it. When pressed to describe their music, Larry puts it this way: "Basically we do two kinds of music: sophisticated music for down-home folk and down-home music for sophisticated people.
