Once Upon a Mattress
Twelfth Night Productions is excited to present "Once Upon a Mattress", a fractured musical comedy adaptation of the classic fairy tale "The Princes and the Pea." The familiar story is skewed in this telling as the Prince is not charming, but drab, the Queen is a royal pain, the King is mute, and the Princess is not dainty, but a moat-swimming, take-charge woman nicknamed Fred. Set in a medieval kingdom where it has been decried that no one may marry until a princess passes the Queen's royalty test and marries the Prince. Twelve have tried and twelve have failed, but the subjects of this kingdom are willing, and planning, to do anything to make sure Princess "Fred" passes the test. A portion of the proceeds from this production will benefit the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center. The Youngstown center is one-third of the Three Projects|One Community capital campaign, a joint project of the Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association (DNDA) and the West Seattle Food Bank.
