Wata Igarashi is one of the leading figures of Japanese techno, emerging from the countrys deep relationship with electronic music. Cosmic drama sums up Igarashis sound, conveying the unique combination of power and psychedelia that defines his work.
By day, Igarashi works as a sound producer and the skills he has developed through his work are reflected in his productions, which are distinguished by their subtle and carefully polished feel. Igarashi pursues a similar sound in his DJ sets, developing a distinctive take on the more trippy and psychedelic brand of techno Japan has become known for.
Having released on labels including Figure, Semantica, Time to Express, The Bunker NY, Omnidisc, Bitta, and Midgar, Igarashi has been developing his own WIP platform as an outlet for his music. From his home base in Tokyo, Igarashi regularly tours across the globe, continuing to explore and refine his singular vision of electronic music.

We're so excited to have Solar onboard for our 30th anniversary celebration! His Sunset parties were a weekly ritual for us during those heady early days back in the Bay Area. We loved gathering with what felt like every party person from every micro scene every Sunday afternoon at the Berkeley Marina to dance the sun down (the exact same spot as the very first MESS jam!) When MESS landed in Colorado and linked up with Humble Souls, our own Sunset parties were directly inspired by those times. But even before any of us started taking generators down to the park we used to run into Solar and Galen getting down at Hardkiss parties and such. What I'm saying is we go all the way back to the same roots. And Solar has been holding it down strong for just as long as MESS. He's the kind of dj that can pull many different styles together into the infinite groove with personality and panache. It's bonkers that we've never collaborated before this, and so nice to be celebrating three decades together at last!
