In late December, The Secret Opera held a competition for new art song and operatic composers. Each composer was asked to submit works that represented The Secret Opera's mission to explore opera and art song in a deeply thought-provoking way, either through a new interpretation of literature, the calling of attention to a neglected political issue, or any other creative expression that would cause audiences to think.
After receiving dozens of submissions from composers from all types of backgrounds and experiences, we chose six composers whose work will make up our launch concert, The Secret Song. Each piece explores unusual issues in a literary, political, or social context and help to promote the mission and goals of The Secret Opera.
The Secret Song features the talents of singers, composers, librettists, and instrumentalists from all over the world. Come learn more about The Secret Opera: What Secrets Will You Uncover?
