Resonance Women's Chorus: Speechless
Speechless presents 125 women singing beyond words, in sonic exploration of realms perhaps not reachable by language.
Selections include a new work by Boulder composer Gary Grundei. The piece, titled "celestial bodies resemble atoms from below, as above (Matthew's Song)" was commissioned by one of the Resonance singers in honor of her son, who ended his life two years ago, at the age of 22.
Resonance will also perform Ola Gjeilo's expansive soundscape Tundra, Georgian composer Otar Taktakishvili's bracing Satamasho, Ysaye Barnwell's Breaths, Eliza Gilkyson's Requiem, and much more. Birdsong of the Rocky Mountain region will be the basis of a collective improvisation.
Resonance Women's Chorus of Boulder, founded in 2002, is a 125-voice chorus singing contemporary women's choral music. With an emphasis on songs of social awareness, Resonance aspires to be a collective voice of women's strength, wisdom, and beauty. Resonance is directed by Sue Coffee.
