Virginia Repertory Dance Company Benefit Concert (in support of Cora School for Dance's Scholarship Program)
The Virginia Repertory Dance Company will be presenting their exciting blend of dance athleticism and high-energy performance at the Cora Studio on April 12, 2014.
Originally formed at James Madison University in 1983, the Virginia Repertory Dance Company began as an ensemble that focused primarily on contemporary dance performance. The Cora concert is part of their spring touring activities, which includes performances and residencies in Virginia, Washington D. C. and in New York.
This year's concert will feature choreography by nationally recognized guest artists including former VRDC members Jess Burgess and Tara Z. Mullins. Burgess is the co-artistic director and founder of rva dance collective in Richmond, VA. Mullins is currently the co-director of the Dance Program at North Carolina State University is founder and artistic director of Z Mullins Dance Company, formally based in Richmond.
In addition to presenting work by Burgess and Mullins, the Virginia Repertory Dance Company will perform pieces by Artistic Director Shane O'Hara, Richmond-based Scott Putman, Tzveta Kassabova from Florida (named one of the "top 25 artists to watch in 2012" by Dance Magazine), Washington D.C. artist Roxann Morgan Rowley, and former New York based Doug Varone and Dancers member Ryan Corriston.
Saturday, April 12 at 7pm Suggested Admission: $20 or pay-what-you-can
