Fauré Requiem Presented by First Parish Choir
First Parish Choir presents Spring Concert Sunday, March 23 3:00pm Studzinski Hall, Bowdoin College Each Spring our Adult Choir presents a major choral concert with orchestra. This year, we will present a program of music written for the tender transition between life and death. The concert will be given at Bowdoin College's beautiful Studzinski Hall on March 23 at 3:00 pm. The centerpiece of the concert will be Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, arguably the most beautiful of all requiems. It demonstrates his gift for superb choral writing, achieving great popularity even during the composer's lifetime. Unlike previous composers, Fauré shied away from the grief and torment elements and instead concentrated on the eternal reward and everlasting peace. Therefore the overall mood is one of gentle serenity and peace. From the sublime In Paradisum to the stunningly lyrical Pie Jesu, join us for a wonderful afternoon of some of the most beautiful music you will ever hear.
Soloists Barbara Kilduff, Soprano, and John Adams, Baritone, join the choir.
Tickets (adults $15 in advance, $20 at the door. students $5) will be available at the church office and at coffee hours in mid-February and March.
