VRDL's third home Interleague Bout for 2014, Sunday 12th October
Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away, there existed a remote city known as 'Perth'. Perth was filled with wonderful people, and they all enjoyed the pristine waters of the ocean on which Perth sat. At night, they would gaze at the twinkling stars above and think how lucky they were to live in such a beautiful place. 'Perth', they would whisper into the great hereafter. 'You're alright.'
But some of them dreamed of a world outside the city, the land beyond the Neverending Desert. These rebels and thrillseekers were babes on skates, a local gang of outlaws who participated in the underground scene known in certain circles as 'roller derby' and called themselves the WEST COAST EVILS. Together, they conspired to travel over the hot sands that separated Perth from the rest of the known world and stake their claim. Through secret channels and rebel networks, they heard tell of another group of lawless she-demons, the fearless VRDL QUEEN BEES! A challenge was set - an epic battle between the west and the east with the winner emerging triumphant ruler of all humankind! Well, maybe not triumphant ruler but definitely bragging rights.
And so the game was on! Who will reign supreme? The killer Bees of the East or the wicked Evils of the West? Which team will smash and thrash their way to VICTORY?! And most importantly, WHO'S GOING TO WIN THE AFTERPARTY?!
With an EXCITING debut from VRDL's brand new exhibition team, the name-to-be-revealed c-team, up against our salty sirens from the south, the South Sea Roller Derby's South Sea Banshees, this is gonna be an epic navigational battle for supremacy, excellency and geography! WEST VS EAST! EAST VS SOUTH! And you, dear audience, our good witches of the NORTH (Melbourne)!
To top it all off we have Swing Patrol lined up for to entertain you all between these 2 epic bouts! Australia's largest swing dance company, Swing Patrol is internationally renowned for their energy and passion for swing dancing. This infectious dance originated in the 1930s and 40s to big band jazz music & is an easy and fun dance to learn. The infectious & energetic dance will have you up and dancing in no time! So time for some wipeout dancing!
