Great Music on Sundays @5 presents "A THOUSAND GOLDEN STRINGS"
music by Marais & Couperin & salterio music from Chile
Marc Armitano Domingo ~ viola de gamba & salterio Frederick Jodry ~ harpsichord
Experience 18th century musical textures with a wide variety of string instruments, from the scintillating delicate sounds of Couperins harpsichord music to the plaintive expressiveness of Marais glorious writing for viola de gamba. A rarely heard instrument makes a special appearance: the salterio, a large dulcimer of psaltery, strung in brass (alas, not gold!), and played in this concert with finger picks. An altogether sonorous treat of the much beloved sounds of the Baroque era.
Great Music on Sundays @5 is Provincetown's longest-running concert series of music of our world. Since the inaugural 1999 season, more than 350 concerts with hundreds of performers have provided music without borders for thousands of concertgoers.
