Antonio Giménez Rico Spain 1983 1h 38m
About (Antonio Giménez Rico, Spain, 1983, 98 min, in Spanish with English subtitles)
** New restoration! **
One of the best trans films youve likely never heard of, Antonio Giménez-Ricos landmark 1983 documentary Dressed in Blue explores the lives and loves of a group of six transgender women living in Madrid in the years following Spains transition to democracy. But more than that, its a loving portrait of a culture finally emerging from the shadows after being hidden for far too long. Antonios portrait of these women gave them the freedom to portray their own stories with their own friends & family, but in a stylized scripted narrative framework with gorgeous cinematography by Teo Escamilla. The stories of Eva, Nacha, Loren, Josette, Reneé, and Tamara were never properly released outside of Spain and never available on home video, but finally Altered Innocence and Anus Films is proud to present this vital testament to just how far weve comeand how far theres still left to go.

Accessibility
Ticketing, concessions, cinemas, restrooms, and our public edit lab are located on Northwest Film Forum's ground floor, which is wheelchair accessible. We have a limited number of assistive listening devices available for programs hosted in our larger theater, Cinema 1. These devices are maintained by the Technical Director, and can be requested at the ticketing and concessions counter.
The Forum does NOT have assistive devices for the visually impaired, and is not (yet) a scent-free venue. Our commitment to increasing access for our audiences is ongoing, and we welcome all public input on the subject!
If you have additional specific questions about accessibility at our venue, please contact our Patron Services Manager at maria@nwfilmforum.org
