Bellingham City Club Program March 26th
On March 26 we are thrilled to welcome back to the City Club, Robert Gates, a man who when President Obama presented him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, referred to as "one of the nation's finest public servants".
Mr. Gates has served eight Presidents in positions ranging from Soviet Analyst with the CIA, Staff of the National Security Council, Deputy Director of the CIA, Deputy National Security Adviser, Director of the CIA, and, most recently, Secretary of Defense for 4.5 years under Presidents Bush and Obama.
In addition to his governmental service Mr. Gates served as Dean of the George Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A+M following which he spent four years as President of Texas A+M.
In January of this year Mr. Gates' memoir "Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War" was published. Copies of the book will be available at our meeting.
