CFF: THE THREEE GENIUSES: A RETROSPECTIVE
Video Pirates presents Cinedelphia Film Festival April 10-27, 2014
Friday, April 11, Midnight THE THREEE GENIUSES: A RETROSPECTIVE w/ Genius Dan Kapelovitz in attendance! $10, no refunds or exchanges.
Genius Dan Kapelovitz will guide attendees through a history of the much-loved L.A.-based public access program The Threee Geniuses and will also screen some of his wild solo work!
Started in 1996 by three guys who had no idea how to make a television show, THE THREE GENIUSES has rightfully been dubbed "The most intentionally psychedelic television show on cable TV." (LA Weekly) It utilizes no pre-production, no post-productionjust pure, unadulterated production. The show is conceived, written, acted, shot, sound-mixed and edited live, in "real-time," so that in less than 30 minutes a fully realized, mind-blowing video masterpiece of Total Television Freak-Out is spontaneously generated.
With sonic surrealist Don Bolles (of The Germs) providing auditory sonic soundscapes and a guest list that has included everyone from the TIM AND ERIC SHOW's David Liebe Hart to a transvestite bodybuilder with Tourette's Syndrome to musician Ariel Pink, The 3Gs are proof that the revolution has indeed been televised.
Dan will also screen some of his solo work including short found footage pieces, clips from a rare (and hilarious) never-before-screened interview with Anna Nicole Smith, and a special preview of his current project 48 HRS. LITERALLY, which, when finished, will be a 48 hour film using only footage from the 1982 Eddie Murphy/Nick Nolte action comedy 48 HRS. It'll be as wild as it sounds.
Doors at 11:30, Program at Midnight.
