Samba Sene and Diwan at Edinburgh FC / EFC
Edinburgh FC is really pleased to welcome back one of our most enjoyable gigs in 2021 ... the diverse international collection of musicians, led by charismatic Senegalese singer Samba Sene.
What an wonderful, exuberant fusion of funky mbalax/Afrobeat grooves, with undercurrents of ska and reggae; original songs with impassioned vocals, infectious guitar licks and irresistible dance grooves.
Sene's influences include former mentor Baaba Maal, Bob Marley, Van Morrison, Paul Simon, Alpha Blondy and Aswad.
The songs cover a range of subjects from love, equal rights to outright celebration. Uplifting and upbeat, this is world music with a Senegalese heart & soul.
"an asset to the Scottish scene.. catch them live if you can" (The List) "a vibrant rainbow of colourful beats and rhythms" (Edinburgh Spotlight (CD)) "a blistering tequila sunrise of a gig... not to be missed" (Broadway Baby) "lively animated lots of fun brilliant" (3 Weeks) "Dont miss" (Edinburgh Evening News) "African party central... " (Herald) "exuberant, richly layered... a good, muscular groove, with the bass rolling and tumbling below" (Scotsman)

Accessibility
UCC has relatively easy access for wheelchair users. There's a portable ramp to enable the wheelchair to get past 3-4 steps from the street to the main door. Once inside everything is on the same level (ground floor) - performance room, bar and disabled-friendly toilets.
