A Tale of Sedition -- Ed Cabrera
Would you like to hear a story of the calculated efforts to weaken democracy and bring about a coup? No, not January 6, 2020, but earlier in our history.
Ed Cabrera will share a tale about an ultra-right pro-Nazi movement that plotted to overthrow the U.S. government by force in the lead up to World War II. People within this movement worked with an agent from Hitler's government. . Armed with disinformation and coupled with actions involving not just a radical band of insurrectionists, but actual serving members of Congress working alongside them.
Those congressmen were associated with the America First Committee, a group with many anti-Semitic leaders. The group opposed America entering World War II. In 1944.
The plots led to the largest sedition trial in U.S. history. Learn about the events leading to the trial perpetrated by a colorful gallery of villains who came close to changing American History.
This coup plot came altogether too close to reaching its objective. It is a harrowing story, but it's not the story of January 6. It is a little known story over decades old.
Ed Cabrera taught at Atascadero High School and, before that, at Perris High School (in Southern California). He also coached numerous sports and advised even more clubs in his career spanning 4 decades.
