Underground Comedy Night
On March 22nd the Plaza Playhouse Theater is thrilled to welcome seven rising stars of the Los Angeles stand-up scene to Carpinteria as part of our "Underground Comedy Night."
It has been some time since we hosted a night of stand-up and we are excited to bring the laughter back to the Plaza! All ages are welcome but the show will feature mature language and themes, so parents and guardians are not encouraged to bring children and to use their own discretion with teens.
The lineup will feature Barbara Gray, Chris Cope, Marcella Arguello, Terrence Newman, Myke Wright, Becky Kluger, and David Sharp, all up-and-coming professional stand-ups from southern California. The rising performers can be seen on the stages of well-known clubs like the Comedy Store, The Improv, and The Laugh Factory, however they're also all fixtures of LA's thriving independent comedy scene. These comics produce and perform regularly on alternative shows across the city at venues like Dangerfield's 3, Echoes Under Sunset, and the crown jewel of all indie comedy venues, the Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre in Hollywood. "Bring extra socks," said Gray, one of the producers of Lady to Lady, a monthly show at the UCB, "because your original socks are going to be knocked off."
Tickets are $15 General Admission and are available for purchase online at plazatheatercarpinteria.com, at Curious Cup Bookstore (5285 Carpinteria Ave) or at the theater box on the evening of the show.
Plan on joining us on the 22nd for some great laughs!
