Celtic musicians Jesse Ofgang and Gemma Briggs are joining forces for a limited tour of New England and New York this spring and summer. Based out of Florida, Briggs is a 24-year-old Celtic music social media sensation who has amassed more than 100,000 followers on Instagram and millions of views on YouTube. Fans are drawn to her mesmerizing bagpipe performances and enchanting traditional Celtic vocals.
Meanwhile, Ofgang is one of the most respected pipers and Celtic multi-instrumentalist in North America. A founding member of MacTalla Mor, he studied Scottish music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and played with Scotlands Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band, a 16 time winner of the World Pipe Band Championships. He also has a bachelors degree in jazz drumming from WCSU and is an accomplished organist and guitar player as well. When he is not performing he teaches bagpipes at Wesleyan University and Choate Rosemary Hall.
On this tour, Briggs and Ofgang will play an assortment of bagpipes, whistles, and guitars, as they perform traditional Celtic music with contemporary touches.
