Institute of Classical Architecture & Art Symposium
The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA), founded as two separate nonprofit organizations in 1991 and 1968, respectively, merged in 2002. Today the Institute is the leading nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the classical tradition in architecture, urbanism and their allied arts. It does so through education, publication, and advocacy. This symposium will feature lectures by Christine G.H. Franck (University of Colorado, Denver) on the state of the building arts; Pierre Fincklestein (Pierre Finkelstein Institute of Decorative Painting, Inc.) on "The History and Craft of Decorative Painting"; Ralph Muldrow (College of Charleston) on the "Trilogy of the Crafts Movement-- Ruskin, Morris and Lethaby"; and Domion Forte, architect, on "The Wisdom of Studying Monumental Architecture and its Application to the Vernacular". Sessions will include a Q&A. Things kick off with coffee and muffins in the morning, and will include a champagne reception at the conclusion of the day.
