Motown show is BACK at The Common Market for ONE NIGHT ONLY! Hurry as it is almost sold out!
JM Productions presents The Boston Soul Revue musical production Memphis To Motown. A musical history of Soul Music in America April 27th at 8 pm at The Common Market Restaurants, 97 Willard St Quincy
You have been in the audience so you know what the evening is all about but in case you have forgotten: We take you on a musical journey, tracing the roots of this uniquely American art form from the Blues, the early music of Ray Charles, on to the Doo Wop beginnings of the James Brown and the origins of Funk. We feature classics by Aretha, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, and Sam and Dave. Turning northward to Detroit, tribute is paid to the glory days of Motown with hits from the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, and Stevie Wonder. Each song is put in context with a brief introduction by veteran front man, Ronnie "Mr. Motion" Valentine. Winding up in the 1970's with a "Philly Sound" set, a Harold Melvin classic features the original Bluenotes' saxophonist Reginald Gaylord Grant performing live on stage. Of course a night of Soul music would not be complete without something by the great Tina Turner, and we will have everyone dancing in the aisles with their rendition of "Proud Mary"! The show is almost sold out. Call (617) 773 9532 today or look for us on Eventbrite!
