DC Trashion Fashion Show 2014
The 1st DC Trashion Fashion Show in collaboration with Evergreen Design Co will be held on Thursday May 8th at Reagan National Airport. We strive to inspire through recycled design and leave the attendees feeling more empowered and aware about recycling, reusing and reducing waste. This event creates a direct connection for students and professionals to use clean waste from the community that otherwise would be in the landfill, to create works of art.
The event will feature a recycled creative runway with designs by local designers, along with high school-middle school students from DC Public Schools and local artists. The celebration will have music from a local samba band, spoken word and dance performances. Hosting 50 models and designs that will make you rethink the way you view trash. Terminal A in Reagan National Airport will be transformed into a underwater recycled seascape thanks to artist Nina Salazar of Studio N111, in collaboration with other artists and students.
Led by Evergreen Design Co. we will have environmental displays focusing on sustainability, repurposing, composting, e-waste and pollution. All Trashion Fashion Shows will have zero waste thank you to our partner Sustainable America.
This event is a community-driven effort to promote environmental awareness and support the local DC arts scene.
