Mangia, Mangia!
Treat yourself to a heaping helping of humor, heart and genuine Italian food with "Mangia, Mangia," a comedy about a time when less was more, except when it came to food. Based on interviews with former residents and a series of cookbooks by Catherine Tripalin Murray, "Mangia, Mangia!"' brings Madison's legendary Greenbush neighborhood to life through comedy, drama, old family photos and more.
An inter-generational cast recreates the good times and tastes of this diverse Italian neighborhood, showing audiences how food, family, high spirits and a tasty sauce help individuals and communities survive and thrive.
After the 75-minute production, audiences will enjoy Italian treats -- ravioli, garlic bread and cannoli -- provided by the award-winning Bunky's Restaurant and made from family recipes featured in the show.
"Mangia, Mangia!" is written by Danielle Dresden, directed by Jody Reiss and features a cast of four, including Sarah Whelan, Donna Peckett, Emily Morrison Weeks and Danielle Dresden, with technical support by Gabe Reiss.
Since its premiere in 2008, the "Mangia, Mangia!" has delighted audiences throughout the region, and this will be its final Madison performance.
"Mangia, Mangia!" is a production of TAPIT/new works Ensemble Theater a 29 year-old professional theater, based in Madison, Wisconsin, and touring throughout the US and abroad.
