MUSIC PROGRAMME

notsosilent x No Globe present Hidden Door Festival Day 9: The Closing Party
On the 5th April, we're joining forces with No Globe to put on an unforgettable party in some disused vaults as part of Hidden Door festival 2014. We really believe this event to have the potential to shake up the currently very 'fringe-driven' arts scene in Edinburgh, and we have been given a fantastic opportunity to throw a party in a stunning space  with which we aren't going to disappoint :)

Our acts include Auntie Flo, Galaxians, Astral Black, Cottam + more.

+ residents

We're so excited be taking over the impressive disused vaults of Market Street for their last ever use as an event space (ever)  and throwing an unforgettable final blowout.

Auntie Flo (Highlife, Huntley & Palmers, Kompakt) headline, bringing their internationally acclaimed live show to Edinburgh for a rare date, with a heavy arsenal of afro-futurist dance cuts at the ready. They are joined by Leeds' Galaxians, a boogie-inducing live analogue-House party duo and Whilst, recent Optimo signees and purveyors of a motorik, globe-spanning groove that's been pricking up all the right ears in Scotland, touching on Sun Ra, Neu! and early DFA disco. Glasgow/Lisbon duo Yong Yong (Night School) kick things off with their crumbling lo-fi memory clouds of melodic R n B, decomposed pop and sexy drone. No Globe and notsosilent residents will keep you ticking over.

In the second vault, acclaimed beats label Astral Black will be taking over, with honcho Jon Phonics and crew members Jaisu, DJ Milktray and Inkke filling their space with live future-jazz swag hip hop and visuals.

After the live show at the Vaults, we will be going down to The Caves for the official afters, where more music will be provided, with a very special set where Cottam and Auntie Flo go back to back for 3 hours.

All this alongside a cinema and project space program featuring film, poetry music and art from All At Sea, We are Tall Order and Alastair Cook, spread out across all 24 vaults.

CINEMA PROGRAMME

Filmpoem was founded in 2009 by artist Alastair Cook and is dedicated to the filming of words; a philanthropic and collaborative venture committed to attracting new audiences to new writing.

The combination of film and poetry is an attractive one. For the poet, perhaps a hope that the filmmaker will bring something to the poem: a new audience, a visual attraction, the laying of way markers; for the filmmaker, a fixed parameter to respond to, the power of a text sparking the imagination with visual Connections and metaphor.

Filmpoem is screening and performing live on 5th April 2014 as part of Hidden Door's closing event; we are also partnering Felix Poetry Festival in Antwerp in June, Poetry International on London's South Bank in July and Absent Voices in September. Join us, we are legion.
