SLO Little Theatre Adventure: a play, a talk, a nosh Elaine Fornier and cast & crew of Proof
We'll enjoy a matinee performance of SLO Little Theatre's production of 'Proof', followed by a talkback - led by longtime SLO Little Theatre actor and volunteer, Elaine Fournier, followed then by an opportunity to share a bite to eat and more conversation with members of the cast and crew.
The Play:: Proof by David Auburn premiered on Broadway in October 2000. It received national attention, earning the Drama Desk Award, the Pulitzer Prize, and the Tony Award for Best Play.
Proof explores the world of mathematics and mental illness through the mourning daughter of a genius mathematician, Robert, who has recently passed away. Catherine's story jumps from the past, when she took care of her mentally ill father, to after his death.
Catherine is a troubled young woman who has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, a famous mathematician. On the eve of her twenty-fifth birthday, Catherine finds she must now deal with her own volatile emotions with the arrival of her estranged sister, Claire, and the attentions of Hal, a former student of her father's. A burgeoning romance and the discovery of a mysterious notebook draw Catherine into the most difficult problem of all: How much of her father's madnessor geniuswill she inherit?
The talkback: A talkback is a post-show informal conversation with members of Enchanted April's artistic staff and cast. Led by long-time SLO Little Theatre contributor Elaine Fournier, this is a chance to learn about character development from the actor's point of view, and the rehearsal process. You may ask any questions about the show or artistic process and gain more of an insight into the theater works. All this and food: After the talkback, we'll remain at the theatre for an opportunity to share a bite with cast and crew - to continue our conversations on a more personal basis.
